Quiet Days

Be still, and know that I am God.

Echo Sound Retreat

In the hectic busyness of modern living it is far too easy to lose sight of what is really important.

Quiet Days are offered to individuals and groups to make a conscious effort to take a day out of the routine and rush, and to give time of reflection, prayer and spiritual regeneration.

These can be offered at a venue of your own choosing, or they are offered in the stunning surroundings of Echo Sound, on the shore of Strangford Lough, where programmes of prayer and relaxation are just what are required to re-charge your inner batteries. Echo Sound is close to Downpatrick, it is easily accessible, yet far enough to escape from the bustle of daily life.

Words, pictures, music, symbols and other things may be included, but the quiet beauty of surroundings will be the special emphasis of the day. The content will be planned to suit the particular needs. For a varied group the theme may be linked with the seasons of the Christian Year. For fellowship and church groups the theme can be determined by request.

The emphasis is towards meditation rather than preaching, reflection rather than discussion, inner strengthening rather than outward busyness. Scripture forms the basis for the day. Any number of persons between 5 and 20 is ideal. There are many possibilities for the arrangements of the day. If you are bringing a group you may plan it for your needs.

Our usual programme is:

10.30 Arrival and coffee

10.50 Introduction to people and plans for the day

11.00 Opening worship; Talk One leading into silence

12.00 Talk Two leading into silence

12.45 A Midday Liturgy

13.00 Lunch

14.15 Talk Three leading into silence
